Swimming with curls

Just because you have curly hair doesn’t mean you have to stop living your best life, however, regular swimming can dry out our natural textures.

Here are some tips to keep your hair as healthy as possible when you are swimming, whether it be in the ocean or in chlorinated pools.

Before you swim:

  • apply leave-in conditioner to damp hair, brush through and either clip up out of the way, or wear a swimming cap to added protection

After your swim:

  • rinse your hair THOROUGHLY, especially if you do not wear swimming caps

  • apply Malibu C Swimmers Hair Treatment (available on our website, under “Other Curl-Friendly Products” tab and follow instructions

  • if you have been swimming in a chlorinated pool then it is recommended to cleanse your hair thoroughly, as often as possible to remove any harsh chemicals from your hair. Your hair is more likely to become dry and damaged from the chlorine than it is from washing, and as long as you are using curl-friendly products then your hair will remain healthy and hydrated
