About us
Urban Kurl Studio™ is a friendly salon in NZ based in the heart of two current locations; Avondale and Royal oak. Founded in 2020, UKS™ was created in response to the lack of diversity in services offered in hair salons, lack of education offered to the NZ Hairdressing Industry around natural textures, and the complete disregard for people of all ethnicities and hair types who just want to go to a salon and feel invited, welcomed, and enjoy a pampered experience.
Since first opening, we have helped thousands of people by teaching them everything we know, offering specialised curl services that they have never experienced before, and finally repairing their curls, resulting in some amazing hair transformations (see some of our clients before and after photos- the transformations are amazing).
With a strong focus on education and upskilling, we have created curl training programs, in which all of our curl specialists have completed to a high standard. Our stylists have also gone through the natural journey themselves, so we all know exactly how it feels and what it takes to truly embrace natural hair.
