Bad hair days explained
We have all had bad hair days, and if you have curly hair it’s probably been more often than not. When you first start your journey to going natural there is a transition period once you have switched from poor quality products to curl-friendly products. Although you will notice a difference immediately, it takes time to remove build-up such as silicone from your hair. A general rule of thumb is it can take about 3 months until your hair is healthy again. This, however, differs from person to person depending on their hair history and current condition.
It is important to note that even for those of us who have our haircare routine nailed, we still have the odd bad hair day, as other factors must also be noted, such as diet, exercise, how much water you drink, medication taken, etc. Just because you have started going natural and have a great method to follow does not mean you can then completely disregard all personal grooming! There will always be an element of grooming required, however, the healthier your hair is the easiest this step will be for you. Even better if you understand your hair and know what it needs.
The important key to starting your natural hair journey is to not give up! It’ll get better each week so hang in there. It’s a journey but it’s definitely worth it. If you focus on hair health by giving your curls what they desperately need, then the rest is easy.
